The transition from high school to adulthood is a big step for any student.
For students with disabilities, it can come with added questions:
At JCI, we help students answer those questions with confidence.
Our Transition Services are designed to help students with disabilities explore careers, build life skills, and prepare for college, employment, or independent living. We partner with schools, families, and EIPD to provide early, hands-on experiences that open doors and build self-confidence.
We understand that every student’s path is different. Our goal is to help you discover your strengths, set goals, and take steps toward a future that’s right for you.
JCI provides Pre-Employment Transition Services (preETS), a set of federally defined activities under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). These services are designed to give students with disabilities early exposure to the skills and experiences they need for postsecondary success.
We offer the following preETS services to students attending our partner schools:
Job Exploration Counseling
Learn about different careers, what they involve, and how they match your interests and abilities.
Work-Based Learning Experiences
Participate in real or simulated work activities, such as job shadowing and internships, to gain hands-on experience.
Counseling on Postsecondary Education
Receive guidance on educational options after high school, including college, vocational training, or other programs that align with your career goals.
Workplace Readiness Training
Develop essential skills for employment, such as communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving.
Instruction in Self-Advocacy
Learn how to understand your rights, communicate your needs, and make informed decisions about your future.
These services are delivered through a collaborative effort between JCI, local school districts, and EIPD counselors. Our team works closely with students, families, and educators to deliver services that support each student’s unique goals.
You Might Be a Good Fit If:
If you’re a student, parent, or educator interested in Transition Services, talk to your school’s special education staff or EIPD counselor about a referral to JCI. Visit or contact your local EIPD Office for more information. You can also contact us directly for more information.
Let’s work together to make the transition from high school to adulthood a successful one.
