JCI works to ensure students make successful transitions to college, career and adulthood.

Pre-Employment Transition Services (preETS) are specific activities defined by the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). They are intended to expose students with disabilities early on to self-advocacy, postsecondary training, and employment skills and options. preETS is a collaboration between JCI, area school districts, and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR).

JCI provides a menu of preETS services for students with disabilities that attend JCI's partner high schools.  Services include instruction and opportunities in the following areas:  

• Job exploration counseling  
• Work-based learning experiences, which may include in-school or after-school opportunities, experiences outside of the traditional school setting, and/or internships  
• Counseling on opportunities for enrollment in comprehensive transition or postsecondary educational programs  
• Workplace readiness training to develop social skills and independent living  
• Instruction in self-advocacy
